Correctional Officer Ongoing Recruitment
As a Correctional Officer at the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, you’ll perform various duties at the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center, which is a 500-bed pre-sentence facility located in Saint Paul, Minnesota in a modern detention facility.

Requirements
To be a Correctional Officer 1, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Any combination of general work experience or post high school education that equals two years.
To be a Correctional Officer 2, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Any combination of general work experience or post high school education that equals two years; and two additional years of experience as a Correctional Officer 1 (General Duty) or equivalent.

Correctional Officer job description
Once you apply online, your application will be reviewed. If you meet the minimum qualifications, you will advance in the hiring process. The hiring process includes:
- Oral interview
- Background investigation
- Medical evaluation/work simulation
Sheriff’s Office staff will help guide you through the hiring processing. Throughout the hiring process, you will be in contact with the Training Unit and receive information and updates.
Correctional Officer Wages
- In 2024, the salary ranges are:
- Correctional Officer 1: $54,231 - $79,500 annually
- Correctional Officer 2: $58,941 - $86,335 annually
- Correctional Officers receive salary increases based on their years of service.
Uniform Allowance
The Sheriff’s Office provides a uniform allowance of $900 per year. A taser, radio, and chemical irritant are provided by the Sheriff’s Office at no cost to you.
