Electronics Recycling
Starting April 1, 2025: Bring accepted electronics to the Environmental Center
This new, centrally located facility replaces Ramsey County collections at Repowered starting April 1, 2025.
Ramsey County offers recycling of televisions, computers and devices that connect to them, such as VCRs, DVD players, keyboards and printers for free. See the complete list of accepted items below.
Open to residents of Ramsey, Washington, Hennepin, Anoka, Dakota, Carver and Scott counties.
Environmental Center hours and location
Tuesday-Friday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m.-4 p.m
Sunday-Monday: Closed
Closed: County holidays and Christmas Eve
Items accepted
All data from electronics is destroyed physically or electronically wiped by Repowered.

Cameras, camcorders and accessories, including chargers and memory cards.

Cell phones and accessories, including chargers, adapters and headphones.

Computers and accessories, including monitors, laptops, tablets, keyboards, mice, speakers, printers and scanners.

Televisions and accessories, including VCRs, DVRs, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles and cable boxes.

Items not accepted
The following items are not accepted:

Appliances, large and small. Includes microwaves. .

Car parts.

Items with freon, including A/C units, dehumidifiers, refrigerators and more.

Power tools.

Solar panels.

VHS tapes, cassettes, compact discs and more.

How to use the collection site
Here’s how you can get started using this program.

Review the list of items accepted. Do not dismantle TVs or other electronics.

Gather unwanted electronics and put them in a part of your vehicle that is easily accessible to collection staff. Make sure the devices you want to recycle are easily identifiable from other personal items in your vehicle. For example, place them in a box labeled “electronics recycling”.

At the site, follow signs and staff directions. Stay in your vehicle while staff remove the electronics. Staff will confirm your Ramsey County residency.

How is this program funded?
This program is funded by the County Environmental Charge, which is a fee on your trash bill that is based on the cost of trash service.
What happens to my electronics?
All data from electronics is destroyed physically or electronically wiped. Items with life left in them will be refurbished and sold. Other items are deconstructed and responsibly recycled.

Why recycle electronics
Electronics are the fastest growing type of waste in the United States. Recycling electronics instead of throwing them in the trash prevents toxic metals – such as lead, mercury and cadmium – from entering the environment and allows the electronic items to be refurbished for reuse or recycled into new products.
