A police report, or incident report, is a documented police event which includes the date, time, address, type of incident, adult persons involved, and a brief description of what occurred. Arrest and citation information is also included in the report.
Public information obtained within any report may be requested. However, the release of private, confidential, and non-public data will be released in accordance with Minnesota State Statute 13.82. There are also certain circumstances when a report cannot be released, such as when an investigation is ongoing; when the safety of persons may be jeopardized; or when investigative techniques may be disclosed. The release of information regarding juveniles is also restricted.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office does not release reports created by the Minnesota State Patrol, University of Minnesota Police Department, Metro Transit Police Department, Saint Paul Police Department, or any surrounding suburban police departments.
