Hodgson Road Reconstruction

Hodgson Road (County Road 49) will be reconstructed from Gramsie Road / Rice Street to Bridge Street in Shoreview.
Construction of this project is underway. The purpose of the reconstruction project is to:
- Improve pedestrian and bike access in alignment with Ramsey County's All-Abilities Transportation Network plan. Pedestrian facilities will help connect users to parks, schools, churches and residential neighborhoods.
- Replace the aging pavement.
- Improve stormwater management.
- Replace aging city utilities.

Timeline
Construction is ongoing.
- Pavement has been removed from Demar Avenue to Gramsie Road.
- Storm water facility at County Road F and Hodgson Road is installed.
- Water main replacement, sanitary sewer improvements and temporary water service connection from Snail Lake Road to County Road F is completed.
- Power poles are being relocated from Snail Lake Road to Gramsie Road.
- Water main replacements and sanitary sewer improvements from County Road F to Gramsie Road is complete.
- Storm sewer installation from Floral Drive to Gramsie Road and on County Road F from Rice Street to Hodgson Road is complete.
- Sod placement from Bridge Street to Dawn Avenue is complete.
- Concrete driveways from Snail Lake Road to Floral Drive are complete.
- Mailboxes for addresses between Snail Lake Road and Floral Drive have been relocated to side streets.
- Lumen has relocated telephone conduits from Floral Drive to Gramsie Road and on County Road F from Rice Street to Hodgson Road.
- Curb and gutter is installed from Snail Lake Road to County Road F.
- Driveways and sidewalk are installed from Snail Lake Road to Floral Drive.
- Asphalt pavement has been installed from Snail Lake Road to Floral Drive.
- Snail Lake Road and Hodgson Road traffic signal installation is ongoing.
- Temporary water service is installed.
- Gramsie Road and Hodgson Road signal has been removed and an all-way stop has been installed.
- Xcel is relocating gas lines from Rustic Place to Gramsie Road.
- Milling is completed from Hwy 96 to Snail Lake Road.
Traffic Impact
Hodgson Road will be open to local traffic only from Gramsie to Hwy 96. A detour will be in place, using Lexington Avenue and Hwy 96.
Residents are encouraged to access their properties from the south. Business customers are encouraged to enter from the north.
New road design
The preliminary design process is underway for Hodgson Road between Gramsie Road/Rice Street and Bridge Street and includes:
- A roundabout to control traffic at the Gramsie Road/Rice Street intersection.
- An 8-foot-wide trail on the west side, and a 5 foot-wide sidewalk on the east side.
- A three-lane road design with a continuous center left-turn lane.
- A storm sewer system with curb and gutter.
- Replacing city utilities (water and sanitary).
