Ramsey County Parks & Recreation will be completing trail improvements at Snail Lake Regional Park in the corridor section north of Gramsie road to Snail Lake Road. These trails were subject of feasibility study to determine what the best solution is to repave the old trails and make improvements to reduce flooding that creates a disconnect to the trail loop system when water in the area rises.
Feasibility study
In addition, this trail improvement project will follow on the heels of a regional sewer rehabilitation project lead by the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services Department. Due to the need for that project to utilize the trail system for access to sanitary sewer structures, the trail improvement project was put on hold until that is complete.
Pending receipt of funding, Final design for trail improvements should be completed by fall of 2026, with construction commencing in spring of 2027. The project will consist of pavement removal and replacement of all the trail from Gramsie Road to Snail Lake Road and Snail Lake Blvd loop, as well as an east west boardwalk in the wetland to replace perpetually flooded trail.
