In a joint effort to keep domestic violence victims safe, we partner with Project Remand and the Ramsey District Court on a pilot project that uses GPS monitoring as a condition of pretrial release for felony domestic violence cases. GPS technology tracks the whereabouts of the defendant in relation to the victim to keep victims safe and to ensure compliance with the defendant’s No Contact Order.
Project Remand and our office screen all felony defendants at their first appearances in court and, while they are still in custody, determine if they meet the eligibility criteria for the GPS program. The eligibility criteria and guidelines for this project were developed by a subcommittee of the Second Judicial District Violence Coordinating Council.
For further details about the program please read the Ramsey County GPS Screening Report - Years One and Two published by the Ramsey County Second District Court.
