Our civil attorneys provide legal advice to the seven elected Ramsey County Commissioners, the county manager and the five deputy county managers.
- The elected county board is responsible for carrying out the power granted in the Ramsey County Home Rule Charter to do all things necessary or convenient for operating county government.
- To do that, the county board adopts policies, enacts ordinances, approves resolutions and contracts, and establishes budgets and financing for county programs and activities.
- We provide legal advice to make sure the board’s actions comply with statutes and court decisions concerning the specific activity and the general law governing the affairs of county government, county policies and Minnesota’s Open Meeting law and Data Practices Act.
