Death Records

Complete the following steps to request a death record in our office.

1. Determine if you have tangible interest.
2. Print and complete the type of death record application you need: Certified or Noncertified (or pick up an application in office).
3. Sign the application at the office window (signature must be witnessed).
4. Provide a valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card.
5. Pay $13 cash, check or money order payable to Ramsey County. We NOW accept credit or debit cards. Additional copies of the same record are $6.

Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Complete the following steps to request a death record by mail.

1. Determine if you have tangible interest.
2. Print and complete the type of death record application you need: Certified or Noncertified.
3. Have your signature notarized.
4. If you do NOT have a current (unexpired) identification card, enclose a notarized copy of the Statement to Identify Certified Death Record Applicant.
5. Enclose $13 check or money order payable to Ramsey County (additional copies of the same record are $6).
