Public Works ADA Transition Plan

Contact us

As required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Ramsey County Public Works is updating the ADA Transition Plan for pedestrian facilities within the county’s public right-of-way, as well as Public Works’ communications, services, activities, policies, and procedures.

Pedestrian facilities are the places and pathways designed to allow people, not motor vehicles, to move safely. And the public right-of-way are places that must allow everyone to pass through.

What is included?

The plan identifies the following Ramsey County pedestrian facilities within the county’s public right-of-way and whether they meet ADA requirements:

  • Curb ramps.
  • Crosswalks.
  • Sidewalks.
  • Shared-use paths.
  • Traffic control signals.
  • Pedestrian flasher systems.
  • Stairs.

The plan outlines how Ramsey County Public Works will make all relevant assets ADA compliant, including timelines and funding sources.

What is not included?

The plan does not include:

  • Bus stops and transit facilities. These are managed by the Metropolitan Council. To learn more about Metropolitan Council’s ADA Transition Plan as it relates to bus stops and transit facilities, please visit Metro Transit’s website or call 612-373-3333.
  • County parking lots and buildings. These are managed by Ramsey County Property Management. To learn more, please visit Ramsey County Property Management’s website or call 651-266-2269.
