Learn more about Northern Iron’s emissions at MPCA meeting

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency held a public meeting May 22 to address community concerns and share more information about air emissions data around Northern Iron and Machine.

The meetings will be 5:30-7 p.m, at East Side YMCA.

Northern Iron is a foundry and machine shop located in the Payne-Phalen area of Saint Paul.

The MPCA was notified in February that Northern Iron’s emissions are highly likely exceeding national air quality standards. Northern Iron was given 30 days to meet air quality standards. The current owner is working with the MPCA to address the lead and particulate emissions. The MPCA placed air quality monitors to measure lead and particulate matter in the air.
