Recycling Exists campaign shows recycled items become new products
Recycling in the Twin Cities is real, and it works. Your recycled items become new products when you recycle right. There are many recycling facilities here in Minnesota that collect, sort, process and manufacture items made from the bottles, cans and boxes that you put in your home recycling bin every day.
Local efforts to recycle and reduce waste save energy, protect resources and support nearly 78,000 jobs in the state. Annually, the Twin Cities metro area recycles an average of 900,000 tons of paper and cardboard, metal, glass and plastic – that's the weight of about four large cruise ships.
Ramsey County and other Twin Cities Metropolitan Area counties created the Recycling Exists campaign to show what happens to items we recycle. Check out the website’s interactive features to learn more about where your recycling goes and what it turns into.
