Veterans Treatment Court needs volunteer mentors
Veterans Services is looking for military veterans who can spend up to an hour a week supporting a fellow veteran through the Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) and their healing process by phone, text or in-person.
Veterans Treatment Court provides assistance and an alternative to traditional court processes for eligible veterans charged with a crime in Ramsey County. Veterans who voluntarily participate in VTC are connected to services that address underlying problems they may be experiencing as a result of their service to our country. All participants are assigned a volunteer veteran mentor to help guide, coach and advocate for them.
Veterans Treatment Court mentors are veterans with honorable discharge from one of the branches of the U.S. military and are able to:
- Successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Spend up to an hour a week in meaningful communication with their mentee.
- Commit to volunteering for a minimum of 12 months.
- Complete required training.
- Participate in additional training throughout the time of service.
