Ramsey County launches training program for local emerging and diverse housing developers
Today, Ramsey County launched the Emerging and Diverse Developer (EDD) Program, designed to increase the participation of emerging and diverse developers in the affordable housing development community. This program offers one-on-one technical support, cohort and group learning to individuals or entities interested in affordable housing development or who have owned and/or developed five or fewer housing properties in Minnesota in the last 10 years.
The EDD program was created in alignment with Ramsey County’s strategic priority to advance racial and health equity and share power with residents and communities. Partners in this work include NEOO Partners, Urban Land Institute Minnesota, and Baker Tilly. Ramsey County aims to address racial barriers in real estate, providing emerging and diverse developers with a fair and equal opportunity to thrive in the early stages of the development process. Participants of the program can expect:
- Mentorship from industry experts: Gain insight, guidance and advice from seasoned professionals who understand the unique challenges faced by emerging developers.
- Tailored educational training: Receive access to free educational materials, workshops, classes and seminars for acquiring, rehabbing or developing housing properties.
- Opportunities to network: Connect with like-minded individuals and industry leaders to forge relationships that foster collaboration and future projects.
- Access to funding resources: Learn about various financial opportunities and develop applications for Ramsey County development solicitations as early as September 2023.
