Positions and pay
Election judges are paid hourly for training and Election Day. If desired, election judges may choose to volunteer their time and not be paid for service.
Precinct judge ($16/hour)
Assists with general polling place duties such as setting up and taking down the polling place, greeting and directing incoming voters, processing registered voters, handing out ballots and assisting voters with forms and other needs.
Trainee/Student judge ($16/hour)
Performs duties similar to a precinct judge, but works a shorter day and is limited to certain jobs within the polling place.
Mobile judge ($18/hour)
Begins the day at the Ramsey County Elections Office. They are sent to work at polling places that have absent election judges and are occasionally asked to deliver supplies.
Registration judge ($18/hour)
Leads the Election Day registration process for those who need to register to vote and supports the head judge when necessary.
Interpreter election judge ($20/hour)
Assists voters through the voting process by interpreting voting information into a shared language in addition to providing general polling place support.
Head judge ($20/hour)
Manages the polling place and team. Must have previous experience working in a polling place.
Area judge ($20/hour)
Monitors 10-12 polling places, assists head judges with issues, delivers supplies and other various duties. Must have previous experience working in a polling place.
Early voting judge ($22/hour)
Administers in-person absentee voting using a laptop computer and/or greets and directs incoming voters at early voting locations, issues ballots, and assists voters with forms and other needs. Preference given to those able to work most or all of the shifts.
