Employment counselors support individuals and families who receive food and cash assistance as they work to achieve their career goals. Cash assistance is available for eligible pregnant women, single individuals without children and low-income families with minor children. In most cases, eligible clients receiving temporary cash assistance must engage in work and/or educational activities.

Cash Assistance:  Combating Racial Inequities 

To improve the health and well-being of those most affected by racial inequities in Ramsey County, Workforce Solutions recognizes that opportunities need to be inclusive of the entire family and integrate community-based partners.

2017 Initiatives: 

  • Racial Equity: With guidance of community elders representing our African-American and American Indian families, partnerships with community-based organizations offering culturally specific services were increased. These services incorporate and build upon individual, family, community and cultural assets by providing support, resources and skills to help individuals support themselves and contribute to the well-being of their families and communities.
  • Pipeline to Prosperity (P2P): P2P is a career pathway program delivered through an integrated team of navigators who provide guidance and assistance to job seekers living in concentrated areas of poverty to explore career pathways in high-demand industries, increase access to community-based adult education programs, leverage program and grant funds to access tuition for industry recognized credentials, and access work experience opportunities with area employers in their industry of choice.
