Michael Schumann was honored with the 2019 Watershed Excellence Award for Outstanding Partner by Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District (RWMWD). Schumann is a Landscape Designer for Ramsey County Parks & Recreation’s Soil & Water Conservation division.

Junior golf program awarded Minnesota Golf License Plate Grant
One year ago, Keller Golf Course and The Ponds at Battle Creek partnered with The First Tee of the Twin Cities to establish a school golf program as part of their junior golf initiatives. The partnership was recently awarded $5,000 through the Minnesota Golf License Plate Grant.
Temporary trail closure at Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park
A trail at Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park will be temporarily closed starting Dec. 3. During the trail closure, a contractor will be conducting work as part of the Snail Lake Woodland Restoration Project, and machinery will be used to stack piles of invasive buckthorn for removal.
Zebra mussel confirmed at Long Lake
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has confirmed a zebra mussel found by a contractor conducting an early detection survey in Long Lake in New Brighton.
No additional zebra mussels were found at the lake during a follow-up survey conducted by Ramsey County and the DNR. Additional searches have been planned to confirm if there is an established zebra mussel population in Long Lake.
Fifth annual Fall Golf Classic at Town & Country Club

Aldrich Arena improvements project begins
Ramsey County’s Aldrich Arena will soon see facility upgrades through an improvements project that begins in July. Construction is expected to last through November 2019. Updates will include renovated family restrooms, LED lighting, and a new roof and fire suppression system.
