Ramsey County congratulates Commissioner Trista Martinson on her new role as the Executive Director of Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy (R&E). Commissioner Martinson was elected to the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners in 2019 representing district 3. She has been serving as the board chair since 2022. Her last official day as a Ramsey County Commissioner will be August 1.

We are grateful for her work on behalf of the county and thrilled that she will remain a committed advocate for social justice and change working in partnership with Ramsey County, Washington County, and other partners to address the unequal burdens made worse by environmental impacts.

Ramsey County Board of Commissioners Vice Chair Victoria Reinhardt is anticipated to step into the board chair role through the end of 2024, pending a formal board vote. Commissioner Reinhardt, representing district 7, has served on the Ramsey County Board since 1996 leading on many metro-wide issues such as transportation, housing, and environmental activism. Having served as board chair numerous times throughout her career, stepping into the role now is a fitting culmination of her esteemed public service career.

The county will hold a special election to fill the vacant district 3 seat. Updates on the special election process will be provided at future board meetings and on RamseyCounty.us as details become available.
