Ramsey County bids farewell to County Manager Ryan O'Connor
Today, the board of commissioners thanked County Manager Ryan O'Connor for his innovative and steadfast service to the county during his final board meeting. O'Connor joined the county in 2013 and has served as county manager since 2018 providing critical leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic response.
O'Connor joined the county in 2013 as the Director of Policy & Planning. He was promoted to Deputy County Manager of Health & Wellness in 2016 and became the County Manager in 2018 leading the county through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The county wishes him well as he becomes the new Regional Administrator for the Metropolitan Council and looks forward to continued collaboration to serve the residents of Ramsey County.
Deputy County Manager Johanna Berg will be stepping in as the county manager while the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners begins the search for the long-term replacement for the county manager position. Ms. Berg has served as Deputy County Manager of Economic Growth and Community Investment since January 2018. Prior she served as the Deputy County Manager of Information and Public Records and the County’s Chief Information Officer. During this transition, it was important for the board to select a leader committed to the mission, vision, values and goals who was willing to step-in to continue advancing the county’s strategic priorities but who was not seeking the permanent position of county manager.
