Pride Month proclaimed by board of commissioners
The board of commissioners proclaimed June 2022 as Pride Month in Ramsey County at its June 21 meeting. The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two spirit - or LGBTQ2S - communities of Ramsey County are an important and vital part of our cities and neighborhoods.
The month of June was designated as Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, which are recognized as the start of the LGBTQ2S rights movement, and numerous events have been organized around the country to commemorate that event.
The celebration of Pride Month in Ramsey County is a reminder of what makes the community an inclusive, equitable and just county.
Commissioner McGuire read the proclamation with DeAndre Lindsey, Deputy Director of Property Tax, Revenues and Election Services, and Brian Theine, Family Services Manager with Social Services, offering remarks.
