Professional Elder Mentorship Program
Launched by Financial Assistance Services in November 2022, the Professional Elder Mentorship Program supports employees in enhancing their skills and reaching their full potential so they can better serve our community and its residents.
The program takes a cultural-specific approach and includes retired community professionals, CEOs, lawyers and other professionals who have deep community connections and are willing to share their expertise.
Appropriate Responses Initiative
Not all 911 calls are the same. When you call for help, sometimes a traditional public safety response is best. Other times a mental health professional, a public health worker or a community partner would be a more appropriate response.
The Appropriate Responses Initiative was launched in 2022 to transform 911 responses while focusing on the well-being of residents and our community.
Food security program
The county’s food security program is focused on overhauling systems and policies to address food insecurity in the long-term and connecting individuals to external food resources in the short-term.
Over the next two years the program will focus on supporting the food safety net system, increasing access to public benefits, building urban agriculture, and expanding food availability and affordability.
Driver’s License Academy
The county’s Driver’s License Academy supports young adults ages 18-24 in obtaining a driver’s license by providing targeted resources and assistance.
Driver’s licenses are necessary to obtain employment, provide reliable transportation to jobs, work a more flexible work schedule and increase earnings. Without the means to get a driver’s license, employment and professional opportunities are limited.
