Communications & Public Relations recognized nationally and locally with seven awards in excellence

On July 13, during the National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference, the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) members met to discuss the latest in government communications trends and best practices. At the close of this event, an Awards of Excellence in government communications was held to recognize outstanding achievements in government communications.  

There are four award types in each category starting with Meritorious (good work), Excellence (exceeds industry standards), and Superior (exceptional work among peers). Ramsey County’s Communications & Public Relations team was recognized with two awards:  

  • Excellence Award for Multi-Page Education Booklet - Hmong Diabetes Prevention Booklet 
  • Superior Award for Campaigns General Information - Free Naloxone Kits Pilot Project 

The following week, on July 17, our local government communications association, Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) held their annual Northern Lights Awards celebration at the Union Depot.  

Communications & Public Relations team member, and past MAGC president, Mike Lindsay, presided as one of the event’s emcees. There are three award types in each category starting with Bronze Award, Silver Award, and the Northern Lights Award. Ramsey County Communications & Public Relations team was recognized with five awards:  

  • The Northern Lights Award for Public Information Project - Free Naloxone Kits
  • The Northern Lights Award for Emerging and Diverse Developers Program
  • The Northern Lights Award for Writing - Maxis Op Ed* 
  • The Northern Lights Award for Public Information Project - Recycling Exists** 
  • The Silver Award for General Publication - Inclusive Hiring Toolkit 

*This award was a joint submission with the Association of Minnesota Counties.
