Color

Our rich core colors set the tone of any design and are used in contrast with ample proportions of white and/or white space. We use the core colors to create anchor design elements such as color floods and shapes or as dense color masks for images. On marketing materials, the body text color should always be the grey (80% black) from the color palette. Avoid the use of black. Find our full color palette in the Ramsey County brand book.

Logos

The following enterprise logos should be used to ensue countywide consistency. For more detailed information, refer to the Ramsey County Brand Book. Employees can find department logos on the department pages of RamseyNet.

  • Do not modify or alter the logos
    • Logos may only be placed on solid backgrounds (preferably white) (unless approved by the Ramsey County communications), and not over an image or pattern, and no artistic effects (such as drop-shadows) may be applied.
    • If placing the logo over any color (other than white) you must use the white logo.
    • No other design, trademark, text, graphic, or other elements may be placed closer to a logo without first meeting the clear space requirements. See example here.
    • Do not combine a logo with any other design, trademark, graphic, text, or other elements, including your name, any trademarks, or any generic terms.
    • Do not shrink the primary logo to less than 1.75” in width.
    • Do not shrink the secondary logo to less than .75” in width.
    • Do not change scale, skew or rotate the logo.

The Ramsey R

Utilizing the standalone “R”– without the words Ramsey County – must be approved by Communications & Public Relations. This is saved primarily for promotional items and decorative elements.

Choosing the right logo for your project

  • High-resolution JPEG (JPG) - Used for in-house printing (pixel-based). Preferred format for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Portable Network Graphic (PNG) - Preferred format when a transparent background is required.
  • Encapsulated Postscript Files (EPS) - Preferred format for professional printing (vector-based). An EPS should be the only file used to enlarge the logo for large format printing.

  • If using architectural photos or outdoor shots, be sure the photos are free of construction equipment, cones, barricades and other physical distractions (unless these materials relate to the content).
  • Be sure the image is reflective of the county and our diverse community.

Sans-serif fonts such as Arial and Verdana are easier to read on screens, and a line spacing of 1.5 is recommended for better readability.

In print materials, a font size of at least 12 points is generally recommended for body text.
