Goal 3: Support fair workforce transitions into the green economy

Identify and address barriers to learning about, training for and transitioning to new climate-driven career pathways for residents who are unemployed or underemployed. Make efforts that are community-informed.

Develop a “Workforce in the Green Economy Plan” for county and partner use.

Create and share a green economy page on the Ramsey County Means Business website. Provide information on job market trends and positions available in the clean economy.

Invest in and support climate driven career paths in partnership with the Workforce Innovation Board of Ramsey County. Support job seekers from underrecognized communities through innovative, holistic employment supports, and partnerships with community-based organizations, educational institutions and other industry stakeholders.

Promote wage growth by creating and partnering with programs help residents adapt to careers in climate-resilient industries.

Provide training and technical assistance to green businesses. Encourage them to be inclusive employers that support and retain employees who are underrepresented and climate-vulnerable residents.
