Pregnancy testing

Pregnancy testing is available if you missed a period and think you may be pregnant. You will get the test result during your appointment. Counseling and education are offered if you would like to discuss pregnancy and pregnancy alternatives.

Birth control

Birth control is a safe way to prevent pregnancy. There are many types of birth control. Clinic 555 staff can help you choose what is right for you.

• IUD (Paragard, Mirena, Kyleena, Liletta)​
• The patch (Xulane)

Emergency contraception 

Emergency contraception (the morning after pill) helps prevent pregnancy when taken within five days (120 hours) after unprotected sex. If you think you need emergency contraception, call as soon as possible.

Anyone who has oral, anal or vaginal sex can get an STD, also called an STI (sexually transmitted infection). Many people don’t know they have an STD because several STDs do not usually have symptoms. Clinic 555 staff will help you determine the right STD testing and treatment you need.

Currently, the majority of cases in the U.S. are among men who have sex with men but anyone can get Mpox, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. 

Mpox is not a sexually transmitted disease. Mpox is mostly transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, which includes sex, but can also spread through hugging, kissing, cuddling, etc.

Testing

If you develop a rash (bumps, sores or blisters), are worried you might have Mpox or believe you have been exposed to it, you are encouraged you to contact your medical provider. If you don’t have a medical provider, call Clinic 555 at 651-266-1255.

Clinic 555 can only test for Mpox if a rash is present. Testing involves a swab of the rash. If positive for Mpox, the clinic will help you anonymously notify potential contacts.

Treatment

There is no specific treatment for Mpox, although treatment with an antiviral may be beneficial for some individuals. Tecovirimat (TPOXX) is an antiviral that may be recommended for people who are more likely to get severely ill, like patients with weakened immune systems.

In certain situations, people who have been exposed to someone with Mpox may benefit from receiving a Mpox vaccine. 

Vaccination

Vaccine availability is improving, and more people are now eligible. 

Following MDH guidelines, we are prioritizing the following people for Mpox vaccination, regardless of the number of sexual partners:

• People who have been exposed to Mpox
• People living with HIV
• Men who have sex with men
• Transgender people
• And others who are at high risk

Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The virus is spread through contact with blood from someone infected with Hepatitis C. Most often, the hepatitis C virus is spread by sharing needles or other equipment used to prepare and inject drugs. In most cases, hepatitis C is cured after taking a daily pill for 8 or 12 weeks depending on the medication you are prescribed.

Treatment

Clinic 555 is able to provide treatment to patients who meet the following criteria. 

• Adults with chronic hepatitis C who do not have cirrhosis and have not previously received hepatitis C treatment. 
• Must not have a positive HIV or hepatitis B test. 
• Must not currently be pregnant.

During your first visit, you will have a blood draw to determine if you meet Clinic 555’s hepatitis C treatment criteria. Clients who do not meet the criteria will be referred for treatment at an outside clinic. You do not need to stop using drugs in order to start hepatitis C treatment.
